Executive Coach and Trainer

This talented trainer is a leading interculturalist in China with extensive experience in international management, cross-cultural adaptation and communication, global leadership, multicultural team management, and international sales and marketing. 

While born in China, he worked for over 10 years in Canada and the United States. Upon his return to China in 2003, he worked at the Vice President level in Sales and Marketing for a number of companies, while also providing intercultural consulting and coaching services to clients in Europe, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific region. 

His ability to customize services and implementation brings special value to organizations that wish to expand business across geographic and cultural borders. His expertise has helped numerous companies adapt to cross-cultural contexts, build effective channels of communication, and create truly global leaders. In cooperation with partners, he has provided training and coaching services to over 100 large global companies and organizations, including 3M, Cargill, Honeywell, Medtronic, Emerson, Colgate, Merck, Walmart, Starbucks, Molex, Autodesk, Johnson & Johnson, Abbott, Shanghai GM, Shanghai Auto, Weichai Power, Bank of China, China Southern Airline, Fujian Benz, and Dongfeng Auto. 

This highly experienced trainer received his Ph.D. from York University (Canada) and MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. He is an honorary professor of the School of Management, Ocean University of China. His publications include Cross Culture and Faith (University of Toronto Press, 2005), Canadian Business Culture (in Chinese, Shandong University Press, 2005), and articles in professional journals.

Another one of our experts on China is a Cross-Cultural Management Consultant, Trainer and Coach with more than 30 years of international experience in global leadership, management and strategy formulation as an international banker (Irving Trust, First National Bank of Chicago, Chase Manhattan Bank), consultant (Chase China Trade Advisors, Global Strategies) and appointed public official (Head of New York State’s International Division and overseas offices).

His wide experience globally includes more than 30 years of specific business experience with China including management of a Beijing bank representative office, head of Chase Manhattan Bank’s New York China Group, senior advisor/project consultant to the Commission of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade of Jiangsu Province, China, and managing a consultancy involved in US corporate negotiations for many of the early US-PRC joint ventures. In addition, he has managed a global network of offices for New York State involved in trade and investment promotion efforts across Asia in Japan, Hong Kong, China, Korea, and Taiwan.

Recent representative projects have included developing and implementing a human resources project for the US office of an Asian government involving cross-cultural management issues, communication and team building; executive coaching for senior Asian executives operating in a US business environment in industries including financial services, pharmaceuticals and consumer products; a team integration project involving the US and Shanghai offices of a major US consumer electronics company; executive coaching for a range of senior US executives relocating to Asia; facilitating cross-cultural competency in management, leadership and communication for American, Singaporean and Indonesian personnel in US manufacturer’s Indonesian joint venture; designing and training a program on effective cross-cultural leadership for senior management at the New York office of a major Chinese bank; and designing and facilitating multi-country training for the US, China, and European offices of a US medical products company involving a range of cross-cultural business issues including management, leadership, quality and virtual team integration.

This trainer received a BA in Asian Studies and Political Science from University of California, Santa Barbara, with a year of study at Chinese University of Hong Kong, a Master of International Affairs in International Finance and Economic Development from Columbia University’s School of International Affairs and has written and spoken widely on various aspects of Asian, Chinese and global business.

Hong Kong/China Expert

For over 25 years, this talented cross-cultural trainer has coached hundreds of managers in multinational companies to help them become more effective global leaders. Originally from Canada, her experience ranges from banking and academia, to teaching business and management in universities, doing research in expatriate adjustment, and providing cross cultural coaching and training. As a consultant for the City University of Hong Kong, College of Business, she also works with hundreds of Hong Kong university business students to prepare them for assignments abroad. 

Although specializing in the Hong Kong Chinese culture, she has conducted diverse programs throughout mainland China and East and Southeast Asia, as well as Europe and North America.  Her clients come from over 50 countries including the United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan, South Africa, South Korea, mainland China, Taiwan and Singapore. 

Through both one-on-one and group programs, she works with various industries including aviation, banking and finance, chemical, electronics, engineering services, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, and tourism and hospitality. This cross-cultural consultant has worked for over 10 years with the Chinese and U.S. government, high-tech, manufacturing, biotech and healthcare industries. She works closely with U.S. and Chinese businesses to establish mutually beneficial relationships, inspiring enthusiasm and teamwork across cultures. She assists American firms with sourcing vendors, understanding business practices, Chinese culture, working and managing Chinese employees, negotiations, transmission of reports and contracts, translation and interpretation, lends her skills to interpret the language, as well as teaching about culture and motivations of the Chinese workforce. For Chinese businesses, she interprets foreign cultural practices new to them.

Since 2006, this expert has worked with American and European companies, including high tech corporations and multibillion projects. Additionally she worked with over 400 Chinese who came to the States for a high-tech company overseas training, including both face to face training as well as Webinars. Born and raised in Beijing, she graduated from Tianjin Medical University, and worked as a medical doctor at Tianjin Medical University General Hospital in the early 1990’s. In 1994 she transitioned to Motorola in Tianjin, to direct a staff of 12 doctors and nurses providing primary and emergency care for 10,000 employees. After training at Motorola’s Arizona facilities, she returned to Tianjin to organize Motorola’s Environmental, Health & Safety Standards (EHS), and Occupational, Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) programs. She worked closely with human resources to develop consultations, assessment, treatment and training for mental health stability among employees. She moved to the 1997 to pursue a dual Master’s degree at Arizona State University, and to work in the Motorola (Arizona) EAP program. She visits China frequently, and speaks fluent English and Mandarin Chinese.

Japan Culture Expert

This consultant, corporate trainer, and coach specializes in leading effectively in a global environment, including the areas of intercultural competency, inclusive leadership, and global virtual teams for corporations, teams and individuals. She has spent over ten years working and living in Asia, mostly in Japan, speaks Japanese and has studied Mandarin Chinese. She has been a Board Member for the Society of Intercultural Education, Training, and Research (SIETAR-USA), helped develop a certification program for Global Diversity Practitioners, and has certification in Global Virtual Team facilitation and high-impact webinar delivery.
