Another one of our experts on the US is a Cross-Cultural Management Consultant, Trainer and Coach with more than 30 years of international experience in global leadership, management and strategy formulation as an international banker (Irving Trust, First National Bank of Chicago, Chase Manhattan Bank), consultant (Chase China Trade Advisors, Global Strategies) and appointed public official (Head of New York State’s International Division and overseas offices).
His wide experience globally includes more than 30 years of specific business experience with China including management of a Beijing bank representative office, head of Chase Manhattan Bank’s New York China Group, senior advisor/project consultant to the Commission of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade of Jiangsu Province, China, and managing a consultancy involved in US corporate negotiations for many of the early US-PRC joint ventures. In addition, he has managed a global network of offices for New York State involved in trade and investment promotion efforts across Asia in Japan, Hong Kong, China, Korea, and Taiwan.
Recent representative projects have included developing and implementing a human resources project for the US office of an Asian government involving cross-cultural management issues, communication and team building; executive coaching for senior Asian executives operating in a US business environment in industries including financial services, pharmaceuticals and consumer products; a team integration project involving the US and Shanghai offices of a major US consumer electronics company; executive coaching for a range of senior US executives relocating to Asia; facilitating cross-cultural competency in management, leadership and communication for American, Singaporean and Indonesian personnel in US manufacturer’s Indonesian joint venture; designing and training a program on effective cross-cultural leadership for senior management at the New York office of a major Chinese bank; and designing and facilitating multi-country training for the US, China, and European offices of a US medical products company involving a range of cross-cultural business issues including management, leadership, quality and virtual team integration.
This trainer received a BA in Asian Studies and Political Science from University of California, Santa Barbara, with a year of study at Chinese University of Hong Kong, a Master of International Affairs in International Finance and Economic Development from Columbia University’s School of International Affairs and has written and spoken widely on various aspects of Asian, Chinese and global business.
